back to basics with some au premier coup studies:
The best plein air study from my Italy trip:
Two versions of the same branch of lemons, both versions completed alla prima (au premier coup). It almost looks like a different artist did each of them, but I am doing some experimentation with paint application.
The 500 Club is another San Francisco classic bar both on the inside and the outside. (its not open at 6 am anymore)
I wanted to go back to what I painted for a long time- still lifes. Nothing fancy, just a quick afternoon study of a bowl of fruits.
Right when the fog starts ripping thru Upper Haight:
At Sunset the buildings start to glow:
I took a backpacking trip around Hetch Hetchy Resevoir. In some ways I’m still staying local, it is operated by San Francisco Water District. That’s our drinking water.
Kolana Rock is Hetchy Hetchy’s version of Half Dome. It seemed to want to be in my paintings.
Haight Street Dive bar (great drink prices):
King of the world view from this house:
I have painted this pond a number of times, this is the best one so far. GG park gets nice and quiet at the west end of it.
A classic bar of San Francisco.
That’s the “Jammin on Haight store” with the tattoo shops on both sides. It was a rainy day.
A simple still life painted from life (not a photo).
